How I Name Project File Versions

I've tried a lot of different ways to name file versions when working on projects but I think I've settled on something. I used to end up with all kinds of different names and none were done in a consistent way.

Does client site design-FINAL.psd look familiar?
Or client site design-FINAL FINAL.psd, client site design-REALLY FINAL this time.psd?

I've started naming files by Client - Idea - Idea Iteration.

It would look like this:

client name & project type - 1 - a

acme site 3b.psd

This would be the home page for a website for ACME and would be version B of the 3rd major design idea.

So the next file updated with changes using this main design idea would be

acme site 3c.psd

Another example would be:

acme brochure 2a.indd

This would be a brochure design for ACME using the second major design direction (idea) and the first version of this design idea. The next time I work on this file and make changes I'll save it as

acme brochure 2b.indd

I'm considering putting a year in there also or maybe year and date but it's always hard because you don't want the file names to get too long.

It of course is an ongoing quest for the best way to do these things!

Any other ideas/suggestions for naming project files?

Biplane Photography

Our client builds biplanes so I've been doing some interesting photography lately.
Check out a few of the photos.

Vintage feel.

Same as above but non cropped and full color.

Biplane wing structure. Awesome craftsmanship!

Biplane radial engine with a split tone treatment. This is a Lensbaby shot.
